The Board of Assessment Appeals is made up of three Middlefield residents who are elected to the Board.  The Board hears appeals against property assessments.  For further information you can contact the Assessor’s Office at 860-349-7111.


Deadlines and Meeting Dates

Deadlines and meeting dates are announced in the “Latest News & Announcements” on the main page of the website, announced as a Legal Notice in the local newspaper (The Middletown Press), and on the Town Notice Board in the town hall at least ten (10) days in advance of the meeting date.  Meetings dates are posted on the calendar.


Real Estate Property, Personal Property, and Supplemental Motor Vehicles (MV bills that are due January 1)


A Board of Assessment Appeal form must be submitted to the Assessor’s Office on or before February 20.  The Appeal forms are available in the Assessor’s office or by contacting the Assessor.


The Board only hears the appeals which were submitted by the February 20th deadline.


Motor Vehicles (MV bills that are due July 1).


The September meeting is only for Motor Vehicle assessments that have a July 1 billing due date.

The Board hears appeals in mid-September.

No appointment is required.  No written request is needed.
