The Board of Assessment Appeals is made up of three Middlefield residents who are elected to the Board.
Their job is to hear appeals against property assessments. They meet with taxpayers in March and September each year. For the March meetings, an appeal must be filed in writing by February 20th.
The next meeting will be announced when scheduled.
Appeal forms are available at the Assessor's Office in early January.
The September meeting(s) are for Motor Vehicle assessments only (from the July billing), and is usually held mid-September. You can call the Assessor's Office the week of Labor Day to find out the date(s).
Board meetings are also advertised in the local newspaper (Town Times) and on the Town Notice Board at least ten days in advance of the meeting date.
Current Board Members are:
Nancy L. Currlin
Robert E. Liptak
Mark Myjak (Chair)
For further information you can call the Assessor's Office at (860) 349-7111, since the Board members are volunteers, and do not maintain an office in the Town Hall.
