The Middlefield Resident Trooper’s Office is located at 405 Main Street. The office phone number is (860)349-9685. The Office consists of two Resident State Troopers, Brendan Rea who works day shift, Timothy Kendrick who works evening shift and the Emergency Service Assistant, .
The Resident Trooper’s office is not manned 24/7. Any routine calls for police service can be obtained by calling the office at (860) 349-9685. All calls will be forwarded to Troop F is no one is in the office. When the Resident Troopers are not on duty, Patrol Troopers from Troop F in Westbrook provide coverage for the town.
Speeding: If any resident has concerns about speeding on certain roads please give the Office a call or stop by and we will utilize all of our resources to slow motorists down. We will use Laser or Radar and issue motor vehicle infractions, warnings, or summons to reinforce the motor vehicle laws.
Vacation-Patrol Checks: We encourage any residents going away on vacation to call the office or stop by and complete a patrol check sheet. We will conduct patrol checks of your residence while you’re away on vacation. Furthermore, we want to encourage all residents to call us with any suspicious activity regarding suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhood. Please try to obtain as much information as possible.
Pistol Permits: Pistol Permit applications can be picked up at the Middlefield Resident Trooper’s Office or from the Fran Pac at Town Hall. All instructions are included with the application. Please call the office to make arrangements to drop off your application to be processed. For questions regarding Special Licenses regarding firearms, you can log onto the Department of Public Safety Web Site and link onto the Special Licenses and Firearms unit web-site.
Community Events: The Middlefield Resident Trooper’s Office continues to organize and implement numerous community events. They include the Kid-Care Identification Programs, the Gun-Lock Safety Program, the Bike Rodeo and the Child Car Seat program.

The Town of Middlefield is dedicated to the safety and emergency preparedness of its residents and businesses. The Emergency Management Department develops and organizes the Emergency Operations Plan for the Town of Middlefield. Emergency Management coordinates with the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department, Resident State Troopers and other town agencies in the event of an emergency situation. We prepare and assist in the organization and direction of local and state resources during a town emergency.

Middlefield’s Emergency Shelter is at Memorial School located at 124 Hubbard Street in Middlefield, CT. Emergency notifications regarding the status of our shelter will be sent by the Emergency Notification System, town website and/or local radio and new stations.
The Senior Center is located at 405 Main Street in Middlefield, CT.

Volunteer Fire Department
Fire Chief: Peter Tyc
The Town’s Fire Service is Volunteer, with the Firehouse located at 406 Jackson Hill Road, telephone (860) 349-7124. The department was first established in the month of April 1934. Our primary job is to protect, with the resources available, the lives and property of the citizens of Middlefield from loss or destruction by fire or other emergency. As well as fire response we are the first responders to medical calls throughout the town. Meetings and drills are held on Monday nights at 7:00 P.M. Membership is limited to fifty people. Funding is provided from the town budget and we also have fund raisers to purchase equipment and take care of our internal functions throughout the year. We currently have two engines, two tankers, a rescue truck. a pickup/brush truck, a pickup medical response truck, a small boat and an antique engine for parade use. We are located at the intersection of Jackson Hill Rd. and Route 157 and we are always looking for new members. The Animal Control Officer is part-time, and can be reached by telephone at (860) 349-1333 or (860) 982-1467. If he is unavailable, contact the Resident Trooper at 860-349-9685. If the State Trooper cannot be reached, call Troop F in Westbrook, 860-399-2100. Please do not call 911.
