Tick-Borne Disease Forum – May 24

Jennifer Reid, Community Director for BLAST Tick-borne Prevention Program will be the featured speaker at a seminar on Lyme disease and emerging tick-borne diseases on May 24 at 6:30 PM in the Arch Room (1st floor), Cromwell Town Hall, 41 West Street. Ms. Reid will discuss ways to help reduce the risk of tick exposure, early symptom identification and treatment modalities.

Developed in 2008, BLAST (Bathe after outdoor activity, Look for ticks and rashes, Apply repellent, Spray the yard and Treat pets) is a nationally recognized, educational program created by the Ridgefield Health Department to raise awareness about Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases. The BLAST presentation will include the latest research findings from the Connecticut Emerging Infections Program at Yale University and the Connecticut Agriculture Station.

The forum is sponsored by MDA 36 (the towns of Cromwell, Durham, and Middlefield and the City of Middletown) and open to the public free of charge. Residency is not required and reservations are not needed.
