The Health Department has the responsibility to protect the public health through enforcement and compliance with the State of Connecticut Public Health Code, and education in various areas of public health. Health permits are required for new septic and to repair septic systems, building additions, pools, decks, wells, etc. Soil testing is required for all septic systems and building additions. The Health Department also permits and inspects all food service establishments and food vendors.
