Out-of-County Medical Trips
Middletown Area Transit provides out-of-county medical trips. This service is a curb-to-curb transportation for older adults and disabled residents of Durham, Middlefield, and Rockfall to out-of-county medical appointments on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
72 hours notice is required for out-of-county medical trips. Under current circumstances booking is available up to 3 months in advance. Please call 860-346-0212 and press 2. Please mention what town you are calling from and what type of trip you are looking to book. If you do not hear from MAT one day before your planned trip, please contact them to confirm.

Dial-A-Ride
Middletown Area Transit is available for in-county trips.
Provides curb-to-curb transportation for the elderly and disabled residents of Durham, Middlefield, and Rockfall to appointments in Middlefield, Durham, Middletown, Portland, and East Hampton. This service can be used for medical appointments, shopping, banking, and other places. This service is available 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday 8:30AM-4:00PM.
Please note there is an application that must be completed. It can be found at Middletownareatransit.org under ADA/Dial-A-Ride or contact the Human Services office for a hard copy. Then, reservations can be made two days in advance. Please call MAT at 860-346-0212 and press 2 for a reservation. Fare is $3.50 each way. Appointments are based on availability so at times they may not be able to accommodate a request.

Complimentary COVID Testing Transportation
Program Overview
The Middletown Transit District’s Complimentary COVID Testing Transportation provides accessible transportation within the Middletown Area Transit service area and is available 7 days per week. The service is available to all residents within the Middletown Transit District. Participant’s taxi rides to designated COVID Testing sites within the Middletown Transit District are paid 100%.
Service Area
The trip must begin in one of the following towns: Middletown, Middlefield, East Hampton, Portland and Durham. To use the Complimentary COVID Testing Transportation, find a testing site within the Middletown Transit District.
How To Book A Trip
You may book a trip by calling the taxi provider, Curtin Transportation, at 860-443-1655. Reservations may be made between 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM Monday through Friday at least one day in advance. A wheelchair accessible vehicle will be provided upon request.
Attendants/Companions
Up to three (3) companions, including a Personal Care Attendant (PCA), may ride for free with the eligible rider. The eligible rider and companions must have the same origin and destination.
COVID Precautions
All riders are required to wear a mask. The vehicles are equipped with front to back protection barriers. After each ride, the vehicle is wiped down with disinfectant wipes. Complimentary COVID Testing Transportation will be available until June 30, 2021 or until funding is exhausted. MTD reserves the right to limit number of uses per individual.
