Dear Neighbors,
As we prepare for the upcoming winter storm, I want to share a few important reminders to help keep everyone safe and ensure our public works crew and first responders can complete their work safely and efficiently.
A town-wide parking ban will be in effect from 1:00 AM on Sunday, January 24, through 8:00 AM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. This ban is critical so our Public Works team can clear snow and keep roads accessible for emergency vehicles. Vehicles parked on public streets during this time may be ticketed and towed. Public Works will be pre-treating road surfaces in advance of the storm.
For those who need additional off-street parking, the Beseck Lake Town Beach parking lot will be available, and access will be maintained throughout the storm.
Please also remember that snow or ice from private property may not be plowed, shoveled, or pushed into any public roadway. This is a safety issue for the plow drivers and first responders and violations are subject to a fine.
Our Director of Emergency Management is in contact with Eversource, and the Volunteer Fire Company is arranging overnight staffing at the firehouse to ensure continued emergency response throughout the storm. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.
For anyone needing a warm place during the storm, the Warming Center at the Community Center, 405 Main Street, will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. If overnight accommodations are needed, please call 211 for assistance.
Thank you for your cooperation and for looking out for one another. Please stay safe, travel only if necessary, and check in on neighbors who may need a hand during the storm.
Warm regards,
Bob Yamartino
First Selectman
