Building & Land Use
Our office assists in guiding the growth, preservation and development of the community. The office and its respective staff utilize such resources as the Zoning Regulations, Wetland Regulations, Building Code and Plan of Conservation and Development to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
The Land Use Department Staff coordinates with the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Inland Wetland and Watercourses Commission.
Health Department
Health permits are required for new septic and to repair septic systems, building additions, pools, decks, wells, etc. Soil testing is required for all septic systems and building additions. The Health Department also permits and inspects all food service establishments and food vendors. Other responsibilities include managing Town owned public water systems, water testing, lead paint investigations, daycare facility inspections, complaint investigations, etc.
