The Center
The Center is a multi-purpose agency that provides health services, nutrition, education, recreation, wellness programs volunteer opportunities and supportive services. We provide a variety of services and serve as a resource to the senior residents of our town. The Center is open to all residents over the age of 60.
There are activities scheduled for every day of the week at the Center. These activities include bridge, low-impact exercise, yoga, bocce, theme and holiday parties, knitter/crocheting groups that work on projects that are donated into the community, bingo, Tax Assistance, blood pressure clinics, foot care, and our lunch cafe. Monthly activity calendars are available at the Senior Center and the Town Hall.
Social Security News
The Social Security Administration has expanded its online services with a new “my Social Security Account”. This service will now allow you secure and convenient access to your Social Security record enabling you to view your earnings and benefit information, print or save a customized letter and? conduct business with SSA without having to visit an office or make a phone call. Director / Municipal Agent for the Elderly
The Municipal Agent for the Elderly program was established in 1972 by the Connecticut State Legislature in order to assure that elderly persons in each town have an officially appointed representative who is responsible for providing elders with information and assistance on services and benefits.
- Referral and information on all community, state and federal programs
- Health Insurance Counseling-provides information on Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement Insurance and Long-term Care Insurance
- Rx programs (Conn-Pace, Partnership for Prescription Assistance)
- Medicare Savings Program
- Respite
- Social Security
- Abuse/Neglect/Fraud
- CT Homecare Program
- The position of Municipal Agent for the Elderly is incorporated into the Senior Services Directors position.
