The Middlefield Senior & Social Service Department
The Middlefield Senior & Social Service Department is a department of the town of Middlefield, CT serving the residents of Middlefield & Rockfall, CT. The department is located in the Middlefield Community Center at 405 Main St, Middlefield, CT.
The Department is staffed by the Director of Senior & Social Services who also serves as the Municipal Agent for the Elderly. The Senior & Social Service Department provides a variety of services, programs, and activates and serve as resource for the community.
Activities include but are not limited to: the senior lunch program, exercise classes, book groups, craft classes, holiday parties, lunch & learn(s) tax assistance, foot care clinic, and many other events.
Director / Municipal Agent for the Elderly
The Director of Senior & Social Services is also the towns Municipal Agent for the Elderly. The Municipal Agent for the Elderly program was established in 1972 by the Connecticut State Legislature. Every Connecticut city and town has a Municipal Agent for the Elderly who assists town residents ages 60+ by providing information and referrals to local, state, and federal services and benefit programs. Municipal Agents for the Elderly are appointed by a town official for a two or four year term. Municipal Agents are familiar with programs and benefits such as Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), Social Security, protective services, legal services, adult day care, housing, transportation, and local senior and community groups.
